Notice 2026 Global Korea Scholarship for Graduate Degrees (GKS-G)

The National Institute for International Education (NIIED) under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea invites applications for the 2026 Global Korea Scholarship for Graduate Degrees (GKS-G) as outlined below.


1. Degree Program and Scholarship Duration

 ㅇ Master’s: 1 year of Korean language program + 2 years of degree program

 ㅇ Doctoral: 1 year of Korean language program + 3 years of degree program


2. Application Tracks and Program Quota (Ethiopia)

  Embassy Track: 10 scholars

 ㅇ University Track: 13 scholars ※ University Track applicants must apply directly to their preferred universities.


3. Fields of Study and Eligibility

 ㅇ Details are available on the NIIED's 'Study in Korea' website

4. Embassy Track Application Procedure

※ Online application only from the 2026 selection cycle (no in-person submission)


 ㅇ Application portal: www.studyinkorea.go.kr

     (Plan Your Studies > Scholarships > Apply for the GKS)

    - Applicants must first create an account on the system, then complete the online application and upload all required documents.

    - Certificates (Nos. 11–19) MUST be consular-confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Ethiopia before being scanned and uploaded.

    - No modifications are allowed after final submission.

    - Document screening will be based solely on the uploaded documents.

    ※ Applicants may apply to up to three universities and must include at least one Type-B university.

    ※ For inquiries regarding online submission and the application system: NIIED (gkspniied@korea.kr)


 ㅇ Application period: 12 February 2026 (Thu), 11:00 – 25 February 2026 (Wed), 18:00 (KST, Korean Standard Time)


5. Embassy Track Selection Schedule

 ㅇ 1st-round document screening results: 5 March 2026 (individual notification to successful applicants only)

 ㅇ 1st-round interview: Early–mid March 2026 (individual notification to shortlisted applicants)

 ㅇ 1st-round results: 17 March 2026 (Study in Korea website – My Page)

 ㅇ 2nd-round results (NIIED): Early May 2026 (Study in Korea website)

 ㅇ 3rd-round results (Universities)6 June 2026  (Study in Korea website – My Page)

 ㅇ Final results: Late June 2026 (Study in Korea website)

 ※ All dates and times are in KST and subject to change.


6. Important Notes

 ㅇ Applicants must carefully review the 2026 GKS-G Application Guidelines and relevant information provided on the Study in Korea website before applying.

 ㅇ Applicants are responsible for any disadvantages resulting from errors in application forms, missing required documents, or incomplete system entries. The application office does not provide support for corrections or supplementary submissions.

 ㅇ Applicants are strongly advised to submit their applications well in advance, as system errors, access delays, or file upload failures may occur close to the application deadline.

 ㅇ Once the online submission has been completed, no additional submission, modification, or resubmission will be accepted under any circumstances.
